Henley Lib Dems Add Their Support to Elizabeth Shenton in Crewe and Nantwich7.22.57pm UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 21st May 2008
The Henley Lib Dem campaign team, led by Henley candidate Stephen Kearney, have joined Lib Dem candidate Elizabeth Shenton at the Crewe and Nantwich by-election for the final few days campaigning there. The Henley team sent their best wishes to Elizabeth earlier this week, before joining her on the campaign trail. Thursday 22nd is polling day for the parliamentary by-election in Crewe and Nantwich, the seat previously represented by Gwyneth Dunwoody. Elizabeth Shenton and the Liberal Democrats are gaining ground fast in Crewe and Nantwich. With Labour support plummeting, local people are set to choose between Elizabeth Shenton and the Conservatives for their new MP. David Cameron's Conservatives continue to stall calling a by-election in Henley. MP Boris Johnson said on election as Mayor of London that "it is time for Henley to find itself a new MP." but three weeks after his election, the Conservatives have failed to start the process to find a new MP for the area. The Liberal Democrat campaign in Henley is gathering speed, with a campaign HQ in place and Lib Dem Stephen Kearney chosen by local members to be their candidate at the by-election, when it is called.
